Progressive Level Winner:
Schering-Plough Healthcare
Research & Development Team

Schering-Plough’s Quality Systems Implementation team won the progressive-level award by incorporating 36 key team members into cross-functional teams to address cGMP compliance. These teams integrated 21 Quality Systems to encompass the requirements of 64 corporate standards into Research and Development operations. A steering committee met weekly to track progress, establish accountability, and serve as a forum for SME and management interaction to discuss resources and resolve “issues.” Recognition breakfasts were held to acknowledge and reward team progress. Management support was clearly visible, establishing the project as high priority.

* This team was one of the first 4 of 12 world-wide corporate sites to complete the project.
* The team utilized effective tools for assessing processes and measurement.
* The selection and implementation of the project indicates that this event is not a single, isolated event but one of a continuous improvement culture that exists at Schering-Plough.
* A 15% reduction in SOPs was captured.
