The Memphis Regional  Quality Cup Award is aligned with the former RIT/USA Today Quality Cup Team Award and the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Criteria.

The Award is co-sponsored by the Memphis Regional Chamber and Southwest Tennessee Community College and managed by the Mid-South Quality and Productivity Center (MSQPC) which is a partner-ship of both the Chamber and the College.

Hutchison is an all-girls school with an enrollment of 850+ students in PreK-12th grades.

Improvement:
The Hutchison Leadership Team established an Arts Academy for the visual arts, music, and theater. A World Languages program was begun with immersion in Spanish for students in pre-K -12th grade. The athletic program has expanded team offerings to include intramural and developmental teams. The physical plant has had a 100% growth in overall square footage of learning space. Hutchison currently has the largest enrollment in the school’s 105-year history.

The Roads and Bridges Department of Shelby County Government is responsible for maintaining all roads and bridges in unincorporated Shelby County, TN.

Improvement:
The Traffic Control Section of the Roads and Bridges Department provides the traveling public safety warning devices such as signage and pavement markings for all roads and bridges in unincorporated Shelby County, TN. In the last two and one-half years, the Traffic Controllers Team, a Quality Circle group, has developed specialized training, inventory control, improved work scheduling, service traffic improvements, and invented two new tools. The team developed a light weight and simple-to-operate hand tool which mounts to the base of a traffic sign post and is used to straighten the post. Approximately 1,000 sign posts are salvaged annually with a savings of $25,000 to the county.
