Course Title: Essential Tools for Quality Management --May 13, 2008

Overview:
With so many quality tools to choose from, it is difficult for an organization to decide which tools would be most effective for implementation at the facility. This 1-day course highlights six essential quality tools that give an organization simple, easy-to-use, yet most effective tools for its quality journey. The course will give the participant hands-on practice in the use of selected tools for sound decision making.

• Choosing the tools that are right for the organization
• Using the 6 tools – Mechanics, Examples and Practices

Objectives:
The course looks at the essential nature of data analysis and the tools required for it.
Mastering these Six tools of quality will give the organization quick results in its efforts for quality improvement.
These simple tools can be understood and used by everyone for continuous improvement or for root cause analysis of an acute or chronic problem.
It will keep the organization focused on reaching a solution fast rather than in getting lost in the maze of the tools.

Who should attend:
Beginners to medium level practitioners who are involved in continuous quality improvement effort or root cause analysis – engineers, managers, operators.

The Instructor:
Abha Dastane-Rao has over fifteen years of experience in the quality field working in manufacturing as a hands-on engineer and as a consultant. She has assisted companies, especially automotive suppliers, with effective deployment of ISO9001, ISO/TS16949, ISO14001 and provided training for Internal auditing to these standards, Core tools (APQP, CP, FMEA, MSA and SPC), DOE and Six Sigma. Abha is an American Society for Quality Certified Quality Manager since 2000 and a Certified Quality Engineer since 1992. She is a Six Sigma Black Belt and has served as an examiner on the Board of Examiners for the Tennessee Quality Award in 1998 and 1999. Abha holds a B.S in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, an M.S. in Statistics from University of Cincinnati, and an M.S. in 'Polymer Processing and Quality Assurance' from Wright State University. She is also a RAB certified provisional auditor for Environmental and Quality Management Systems. Her work experience includes positions with Bridgestone-Firestone, Tyco Adhesives and Delco Chassis.
