COURSE SUMMARY:
A one day course (7 hours) consisting of lectures, profile, discussions, worksheets and tools for weekly planning that will aid attendees in identifying negative habits and determining new positive habits to take their place. The following topics are covered:
• Completion of the “Time Mastery Profile” to determine current status in twelve categories of self-management.
• Review of approaches to time management.
• Interactive discussion of each of the twelve categories and what, if anything, needs changing to be more effective in work and personal life.
• Identify support needed from others to assist in establishment of new habits of self-management.
• Develop an action plan to begin immediately to implement new habits for a more productive life—all of the time.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
• Review twelve dimensions of self-management of time.
• Identify current habits that impact negatively on your life.
• Determine new habits to be practiced consistently.
• Set in place a weekly process for dealing with the urgent and important issues of life.
• Develop priorities in an action plan to manage daily life.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?:
Any person who would like to be more productive, feel they are making a positive contribution to their organization/community, and are ready to commit to new more efficient lifestyle of self-management.

PRE-REQUISITES:
None. Attendees will complete a profile in class and develop a plan to establish new habits for the next seven days and commit to consistently following their plan for three weeks.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Participants will learn how to:
• Develop a weekly work/life compass
• Identify negative work habits
• Determine new replacement habits and sources of support for those habits
• Develop an action plan with top priority objectives for immediate application
• Appreciate the need for consistent review of long-range goals, weekly directions, and daily implementation.

REQUIRED TEXTBOOKS AND MATERIALS:
All materials will be provided in class.

COURSE OUTLINE:
1. INTRODUCTION TO TOPIC OF TIME MANAGEMENT
• Instructions for taking the “Time Mastery Profile” (page 2 of profile)
• Individuals take the profile (pages 3-7 of profile)
• Review results of profile (strengths and opportunities for improvement) (page 8 of profile)
• Elements essential for changing habits and building action plans (page 9 of profile)

2. APPLICATION OF THE CHANGE MODEL TO THE TWELVE CATEGORIES OF SELF-MANAGEMENT:
• Developing my “Can Do” attitude
• Establishing clear goals
• Knowing what to do by prioritizing
• Analyzing my time use
• Mastering planning for effectiveness
• Knowing when to do things by scheduling
• Controlling interruptions
• Improving meeting effectiveness
• Handling written communications
• Increasing delegation strategies
• Conquering procrastination
• Developing team time management

3. DEVELOP YOUR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL ACTION PLAN:

METHOD OF EVALUATION:
Through observation of assigned exercises, open questions and class discussion, attendance and an evaluation form, the student will demonstrate his/her ability to successfully complete the required outcomes. Certificates of Attendance are given to all who complete the 7 hours of course work. CEU Credits are available at an additional minimum cost. CEU credits will be assigned a grade of “S” Satisfactory.
